Singer: Ray Charles

Ray Charles (September 23, 1930 – June 10, 2004) was an iconic American singer, songwriter, and pianist, often referred to as “The Genius.”

Born Ray Charles Robinson in Albany, Georgia, he lost his sight at age seven due to glaucoma. Despite this, Charles developed his musical talent, blending genres like gospel, blues, jazz, and country to create a unique sound.

His hits include classics such as “Georgia on My Mind,” “Hit the Road Jack,” and “I Got a Woman.” Charles overcame numerous personal challenges, including battles with addiction, to become a pivotal figure in the development of soul music.

His contributions earned him numerous awards, including 17 Grammy Awards, and he is remembered as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
