Movie Director: Gil Kenan

Gil Kenan is a British-American director, screenwriter, and producer, born on October 16, 1976, in London, England. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of eight. Kenan studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.

Kenan gained prominence with his directorial debut “Monster House” (2006), an animated horror film that received critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. He followed this success with the live-action fantasy adventure “City of Ember” (2008) and the horror film “Poltergeist” (2015), a remake of the 1982 classic.

In addition to his work as a director, Kenan has contributed to various projects as a screenwriter. He co-wrote the script for the 2021 supernatural comedy “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” directed by Jason Reitman. Kenan is known for his ability to craft engaging, family-friendly films with a touch of the supernatural, blending imaginative storytelling with a distinctive visual style.
